The Mauritania Race 200, a non-stop footrace of 200 km, takes place in the region of Atar. Known for its amazing countryside, this region includes an enormous variety of scenery, from rocky plateaus criss-crossed by deep ravines, sand dunes, rocky plains, oases, camping grounds and villages, with everyday life rubbing up against ancient trade routes.
