help Cool Running Help : How to use the Results Loader help

Introduction
The Cool Running Results Loader allows registered Race Directors to submit race results as pre-formatted ASCII text files that are uploaded to Cool Running. These files can be plain text with a file type or extension of .txt, comma-separated value files (.csv), or HTML files (.htm or .html). The results files are converted automatically to Web pages and classified by Year and State (or Country) in which the event took place. If you defined a Results Insert, it is also added automatically to the results. (more about inserts)

In summary, with the Results Loader you can submit multiple results files (e.g., one for each category), one race photo file and caption, one link to an existing Web site related to your event, and one race story file with a race narrative. See below for a sample of the input form. Any submitted files of an unsupported type will force the entire race to be rejected.

Race Results Files
As mentioned above, actual race results files are ASCII text files with the results already formatted into rows and columns of data. A minimum of one file must be submitted. We strongly recommend that you DO NOT submit HTML files as the HTML code can interfere with the Web page conversion that takes place when files are submitted. Undesireable formatting can result. Plain text files are more reliable and also easier to edit using the Cool Running Results Editor. (more about editing)

The number of results files to submit depends on how you organize the results for your event. It may be easier to group all results into one file, but that makes it harder for participants to find information. Your event may have mutiple races with different distances, a fun run, a walk, etc. In addition, you may want each race to be divided into overall, age group, or team category results. Results Loader Input Form
In order to present the Results Loader Input Form, you must enter your Race Director Account Name and Password, enter the number of results files to submit (not including a photo or story file), and press Results Loader button on the main Events page.

Here is a quick peek at the Results Loader to give you an idea of the race information that you can enter for each race. Just prior to showing this form, the main Events page requires that you enter the number of results files you plan to submit. This number controls the number Label/File pairs that appear at the bottom of the form.

Editing Your Submitted Results Files
Use the Cool Running Race Results Editor to maintain previously submitted Race Results Files. You can correct the results information only, not its classification by Race Date or Race State or Country, or its Race Name. We recommend using the latest version of the Netscape or Internet Explorer browser. For large results files, Internet Explorer works best.

You can also choose to delete an entire race that was posted with the wrong name, date, or state. Or you can choose to replace or edit an individual race results file.

Only the races results submitted in the past 28 days can be edited, so it is a good iead to check your results immediately after submitting them. If you need to change older race results, you must resubmit the race with the corrected files from your system. (more about editing)
