RIRR Red Rooster Ramble 5M #3

Warren, RI, August 19, 1999

Complete

Results Courtesy of Rhode Island Road Runners Absolutely unbelievable! No rain today. In fact, it was rather pleasant with cool temperatures and low humidity. These outstanding conditions allowed Elaine Stoeckle to shave off 1:11 from her time and set a new course record. Way to go, Elaine! This race is pulling runners from all over the state. Ian from Cumberland, Caio from Cranston, and Paul from Warwick were newcomers who made long treks and are sure to be regulars from now on. John was pleasantly surpised to find a series of races in his hometown - not many in Warren! Caio ran at a fantastic pace - you must understand that he stopped along the course to watch the sunset. What other race do you know of that offers such blissful scenery??? But there were also lessons learned at this race, like "How many clicks does it take to get to the boom of a starting gun?" and "Know when to say no to pizza hot-pepper." Linda has convinced me to start a walking category, so starting next week, walkers will be allowed to start the race at 6:30pm, meaning an earlier registration time for those interested - 6:15pm at the pub. There are 5 races left in the series. See you next week!!! -Brad Labine
