Third Leg of Bank & Trust Triple Crown Running Series - 65F/Sunny
The race results marked with an asterisk(*) are for several runners who ran
extra distance due to lack of proper course direction by race volunteers.
Based on their 1998 actual 10K times or (for T. Monfre) extrapolated 8K
times, these runners should have actually placed considerably higher in the
race. The extra distance cost third place finisher, Michael Kichty, about
two minutes, but no change in place. We corrected his time in the results
since it did not affect the overall standings but was a vital factor in the
Triple Crown standings. We project that Tim Monfre(40:59) and Steve Swanter
(41:00) lost about 4:30-5:00 minutes and would certainly have been in the
top 7. Steve Fowler lost about three minutes according to a comparison with
last year's time. Kevin Dowdell and Mark Studnicki both DNF'ed but both have
run around 36:00 on our course. Curt Brown and Teruyuki Minegishi both
extended their runs and undoubtedly would have placed higher, but we did not
have previous times for them on our course. We have extended our sincere
apologies to these excellent runners and are refunding their entry fees. We
are also sending a trophy for first place in his age group to Teruyuki who
was mistakenly omitted from our original results compilation.
