OVERVIEW . . . . . So, during this time of year weather most certainly is a factory.  Sun shinning and no rain but a strong head wind made the mid- 50 degrees feel like the mid-40's.  Running races this time of year will truly make you strong and fit for the season.  Just don't expect a PR when running into a head wind of 30+ miles and hour.

The INAUGURAL 5K had RICK CLENDANIEL, 16 years old, Warminister, PA sailing solo to the finish line in 17:44, with Rehman Jalil, 22, Kendel Park, NJ taking second in 18:0l and Steven Keegan, 34, Maple Glen, PA taking 19:11 for third overall.  PAMELA GESS, 30 years old, Somerdale, NJ kicked in a finish to take first in 19:53 over a fast closing Jillian Stein, 17 years old, Monmouth Junction, NJ in 19:55.  Taking third female overall was Stacey Rosenberg, 34, of Southampton, PA in 21:17.

Top Male 5K Master 40+ was STEPHEN GOODMAN, 54 years old, Huntingdon Valley, PA in a fine 19:19.  First Female 5K Master 40+ was LINDA COLLINS, 44 years old, Bensalem, PA in 21:20.
Top two 5K Award Teams were:  First Place the B&R Runners, and Second Place the Lollipops.  Third place finishers were the Willow Grove Pacers #2.

The 10K RACE saw BILL GOULD, 30 years old, Philadelphia, PA also sailing into the finish line solo for a 34:0l first place, with Donald Martenz, 23, Lakewood, NJ finishing second overall in 34:51, and Edward Primeau, 35, West Point, NY taking third overall in 35:33.  BETH SCARPELLO, 35 years old, Jammison, PA was first female overall in 41:02, with Naomi Laing, 34, Newtown, PA second in 41:29.  Hillary Goodman, 36, Dresher, PA finished in 42:02 for third female overall.

Top Male 10K Master 40+ was JIM ALEXANDER, 40 years old, Warminster, PA in 36:08, and
First Female 10K Master 40+ was CHERYLE BENGER, 48 years old, running a fine 45:13.
Top two Award 10K Teams were:  First Place the VP-64 Condors, and Second Place the 99th RSC.  Third place finishers were the PENN State ROTC.

Both courses were USATF certified.  Good course logistics -- of course what do you expect when it's hosted by the military!  Good job to the entire MWR team.  Next year this event will move up to May.  How do you know that maybe you have been doing one military based event too many?  When you automatically stand to attention and face in the direction of the American flag during the playing of colors --   whether you can see it or not.  But you know it does make you feel good.   Everyone showed good metal today.
See you at the next starting line . . .   Linda Toretsky-LIN-MARK
