Claremont NH welcomed road racing back to the city with the first running of the Chili Cook Off 5k. The race had runners from as far as Berlin Germany, with half of the field local competitors. Steven Kosner of Norwich, VT took home the overall victory with a course record time of 16:49. John Osgood and Jim Stanley rounded out the top three.

In the women's field, Sabina Valentine finished with a fast 19:59 almost a minute ahead of Krista Durmot. The school team of Stephanie Sawyer and Megen Gentes won honors for Claremont Middle School in the team competition with the rights to the traveling trophy for the year.
