O'Mara and Gartner Tie, Correia Bests Women in 91st QD 5

Brian Nelson who was home on spring break from the University of New Hampshire, opted to run the QD 5 instead of rollicking on the warm sunny Florida beaches. He was intent on breaking through the elusive 30 minute barrier. He tucked in behind Ken Gartner and Bill O'Mara and ran perfect 6 minute per mile pace as long as he could, but in the end he succumbed to the strong northeast headwinds and faded coming in and finished in 5th place. Tim Jones showed he will be ready for next month's Boston Marathon, as he finished just steps behind Steve Hamel at 6:30 pace.

Although she won't be toeing the line in Hopkington, Nancy Correia is certainly in shape as she easily won the women's race and nearly placed in the top 5 overall. Darlene O'Mara took second as she led a large pack of runners across the line which included 13-year-old Joe McMenamy, Mary Olenick, and Paula Fratantoni.

Sandro Segalini and Abby Crozier teamed up again this week. It is uncertain who pushed who, but they both finished with personal best times, which was no easy feet on the cold blustery day.

The QD 5 Miler is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is no charge for this self timed event and it is open to all runners.
