Weather conditions were warm and moderately humid with a light breeze
and temperatures in the mid-80s.
In the third week of the series, both the men and women's course record
were broken; however the new record holders were familiar faces as both
Bill Thramann and Cathi Koehler lowered their own course records.
For the third consecutive week, Thramann took overall individual honors
and established a new course standard - this time in 17:09. Thramann
was pushed hard early by Eric Roland, before establishing a lead in the
second mile and cruising home for the win. Roland ran strongly to
finish second, followed closely by Peter Pazik.
Meanwhile, Cathi Koehler, running without her dog, lowered her own
course record (set with the dog) by over three minutes finishing 12th
overall in 21:01.
Other finishes of note: In the battle of out-of-staters, Bob Kelsey of
Kennebunk, ME outpaced Jim Gilchrist of Charlestown, MA.
In the men's masters' category, George Gurney edged out Steven Schiller
by 8 seconds for the win. Congratulations to all finishers.
Much thanks to Jim Roche on the pace bike, Joe Anastasio as course
marshal, and Ken Livingston on the clock. See you all next week.
The course is a rolling, measured 5k with approximately 2 miles on
trails. The series will continue each Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m.
through the end of August. Race sign-in is at the first dirt lot on
the left.
