1998 VERMONT 100 MILE ENDURANCE RUN

July 18-19, 1998
The 1998, 10th Anniversary edition of the Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run was
held on a warm and sunny day. Temperatures hovered in the mid to upper 80's
during the day with evening temperatures a coolish low 50's. The temperature
played havoc with many a runners strategy for really breaking loose a great
run on this day. The largest field ever was assembled for the occasion of
the 10th Anniversary of this run. The many days of high heat which preceded
the race, helped to dry up some of the muddier spots from the previous weeks
of rain. However, there was still enough mud around to swallow an errant shoe
or two.
It was another spectacular event. Good organization, outstanding hospitality,
and a challenging course were the highlights of the weekend.
