Friday night's rain did not deter many of the QD 5 runners, as 26 devoted stalwarts toed the line. It was David Farrell of Barrington, RI who bolted out to a very large lead through the first mile. After 2 miles, he was swallowed up by the chase pack of Ken Gartner, Terry Souza, and Jeff List. Souza and Gartner later dropped List and ran in together for a 1st place tie. Biancini Michele of Italy via Woods Hole also reeled in the tiring Farrell to nab 4th, with Farrell taking 5th.

Dana Smith, who garnered his first win 2 weeks ago, made a bid to defend his title, but gave it up after the first downpour. Mr. Smith put on the brakes, stating he doesn't like running in the rain, and instead he opted to conserve his energy for the upcoming Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Bob Gusmini had an adventurous night, as he missed the turn onto Elm Road and was half way down to Woods Hole before he knew something was amiss. He fortunately was able to flag down a car. A kind woman chauffeured the confused runner to the frontdoor of the Quarterdeck.

Kris Tholke, who does not mind running in the rain, had an easy time of it, as she bested Ann Peters by over 2 minutes, with Joanne Briana 3rd. Doris Beatty and Madeleine Marken ran in together for 4th.

The QD 5 Miler is held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth and all are invited to participate in this free event.
