Destination Plymouth Triathlon
August 10, 1997, Plymouth, MA
The first running of Destination Plymouth Triathlon was held in the
beautiful Plymouth Mass. National forest. The sight was easily accessable
but secluded from traffic in the forest which made for a fun race that was
well recieved by the athletes.
Travis Keane flew in for the race from his Olympic training in Colorado.
He was followed closely upon exiting the water after the half mile swim and
eextended the narrow lead in the bike and run. Following Travis was in
second Tony Delone, and in third was George Bent.
Robin Sandos, of the 19- under age group, won the womans overall title
with a time of 1:12:35. Robin has been impressive this season and we look
for her to finish strong. Second in the overall womans catagory went to
Caitlin Shea-Kenney, age 18, and third place was captured by Mully Tyson.
This race is one you should look to running next year. The course is
open, challenging and remote enough to avoid congestion. Call FIRM racing,
