The First Annual Run With The Devil 5k/1 Mile was a great success despite heavy rain, competition with the Hidden River Classic, and the fact that the first year of any event is always difficult. Nate Hansen, a junior at St. Pete High, made up for a disappointing end to his cross country season by achieving a personal best 5k time of 16:18. Nate's 3 mile split was 15:48 which tied his best 3 mile time, and proved that he is still one of the strongest high school runners in the county. Hansen's brother Nick, a sophomore at St. Pete High, won the 1 mile in a time of 6:02. The women's competition was no match for Lauri Reynolds who crossed the finish line in 18:15. Reynolds's excellent performance placed her fourth overall. Sasha Klemewesch, a freshmen at St. Pete High, easily won the one mile in a time of 6:53.
The St. Pete High cross country teams dominated their school's first ever community run that took place on a new course at Crescent Lake. St. Pete High prides itself on its tradition so you can bet the Run With The Devil 5k/1 Mile will continue for years to come. The event was put on by St. Pete High's Student Government Association and PTSA who raised a large sum of money for their school
