RIVERA AND HICKEY WIN SUMMER SERIES 9-MILER
Calf Pasture Beach was the setting for the 9 Mile Race, which was dedicated
to the memory of Ian James Eaccarino, who died September 10, 1996. Ian
was the son of Ginger and Larry Katz, who have been members of the Lightfoot
Running club for over 15 years. Ian was employed at Calf Pasture Beach
during the summer of 1996. A host of Ian's friend volunteered at the race.
Esteban Rivera was the winner with a time of 50:54. Ken Poli took second
place, with an age group course record time of 52:31. George Buchanan was
third with a time of 53:07. Meg Hickey was the first place woman with a
time of 63:08. Barbara LeBlance followed with a time of 65:03. Philivia
Wellborn followed closely, capturing third place with a time of 65:06.
A total of 93 runners finished the race on a sunny day. The humidity
level was moderate to heavy.
