BUCHANAN AND HICKEY WIN SUMMER SERIES 3-MILER
The 20th annual Norwalk Summer Series 3-Mile Road Race took place Saturday June 28, 1997 at Norwalk's Naramake Elementary School. George Buchanan of Stamford was the winner in a time of 16:29. Peter Hohmeister took second place with a 16:44, followed closely by Eric Karl with a 16:49. The first place woman was Meg Hickey of Norwalk in a time of 20:09, followed by Hildanies Colon with a time of 20:26. Sally Van Leeuwen was the third woman with a time of 20:38.
A total of 106 runners finished the race on a gorgeous sunny day--the temperature was not particularly overbearing.

BUCHANAN AND O'DONNELL WIN SUMMER SERIES 5-MILER
The 20th annual Norwalk Summer Series 5-Mile Road Race took place Saturday June 12, 1997 at Norwalk's Cranbury Elementary School. George Buchanan of Stamford was the winner in a time of 28:01. Eric Karl took second place with a 28:23, after a grueling homestretch battle with Peter Hohmeister who finished in 28:25. The first place woman was Laura O'Donnell who finished with a time of 33:23, followed by Meg Hickey with a time of 34:34. Joining the ranks of the top runners was Hildanies Colon who finished thrid with a time of 36:17.
A total of 108 runners finished the race on a sunshine filled morning, with a moderate humidity level.
