Race #5 - July 11, 1996

This week's race was part of the North Medford Club's race series. This
always produces a large turnout of runners. In fact, this was the first WA
Summer Road Race to break 100 runners, with 109. If you are near the top of
your age category in points, this is definitely not a night you want to miss.
Having the last name "Landers" basically guaranteed a top place finish, as
Keith Landers and Sean Landers came in 1-2. The large field produced many
outstanding times. New season's bests were set in the Male 18-29 and Male
40-49 categories. New records were set in the Male 50-59 (by head Rat Peter
Orni) and Female 40-49 categories.
Division standings remain especially tight in the Male 30-39 and 50 and Over
categories. For the women, Amber Cullen in the 17 and Under category has been
the only person able to put any sort of breathing room between herself and the
#2 person in her category. Marilyn Graves has retaken the lead in the
Women's 40-49 category which she lost for one week to Marge Gladwin
In the Walking division, Coby Heller has taken a thin 2 point lead.
