From New Castle (on the NH seacoast by Portsmouth) to the summit of Mt. Washington, NH, USA
(Paddle 12 miles, bike 90 miles, run 8.5 miles)
26 adventureous triathletes from around the USA started off at 6am. Over 8 hours later up in the snowfields of
Tuckermanıs Ravine atop Mt. Washington, Gary Passler passed Tom Cross within 1 mile of the finish and went
on to win the 3rd annual event by 7 minutes. Cross, the event organizer was happy in defeat, ³This is the best
turnout weıve had with some really great athletes, Iıll take second to Gary any day². Many of the athletes
were veterans of Ironman distance triathlons and put this race in the same category for difficulty. Fastest
splits of the day went to Ed Joy in the kayak with a 1:36, Steve Riddle on the bike with a 4:19, and Passler on
the run/hike with a 2:10.
