Franklin Park, Boston

Timing By: ABMAC Race Services

Steady morning rain turned the multiple-loop Franklin Park cross country course into a mud-slicked raceway through the eight race event.

Brookline's Jonathan Riley amazed with a course record of 15:23 in the fourth race of the day. He pulled away with Boston English junior Abdirizak Mohamed (via Somalia) in the second mile and then left him 25 seconds back (but still a top 5 HS course time) at the mucky finish.

Lauren Matthews, Riley's distaff teammate, gave Brookline a sweep of the individual titles, winning the girls' DI race in 19:10. Top girls time was a second faster by Shara Miller in 19:09, as only a baker's dozen broke 20:00. Miller's Newton South team and cross-town rival Newton North impressively won team titles in divisions II and I, respectively.
