When the CMS 52-Week 5K Series schedule was set for 1996 and it was decided to shift the series from Saturday mornings at Worcester State College to Wednesday evenings at Orchard Hills A.C. in Lancaster at the beginning of April, no one thought about the fact that daylight saving time was not set to go into effect until April 7th, four days after 5K #14. As a result, the race started 15 minutes after sunset and by the time the last runner crossed the finish line, all but the faintest trace of residual light had vanished.
