Oops! At 7:00AM, two hours before the scheduled start of the race, two to three inches of snow had fallen in the Worcester area, a total of seven inches was being predicted by various weather forecasters and officials of the host facility, Worcester Stat e College, had announced that the campus would be closed until 10:00AM. Therefore, it was decided by race officials to cancel the run. As many of the "regulars" as possible were notified by telephone. By 8:15AM, however, there had been no further snowfal l, the sky was clear and the W.S.C. campus was plowed and open. A total of seven runners and five volunteers materialized for the race. The total of seven finishers was the second lowest in the long history of the CMS 5K's. The record low of six w as set when the race was run during a blizzard.
