19th ANNUAL NORWALK (CT) SUMMER SERIES

Buchanan and Stocker Remain On Top, Take Cranbury 5-Miler
Saturday, July 20......George Buchanan and Emmy Stocker won again today, as the second leg
of the six-race Norwalk Summer Series continued at Norwalk's Cranbury School. This five-mile
race had been postponed because of Hurricane Bertha, and today's weather, mid-70's, sunny with
cool breezes, rewarded the runners with near-ideal running conditions.
Buchanan was first over-all, in 28:56, followed once again by Eric Karl (27:17). Third place was
taken by Michael Rorick (29:53). Stocker, the first female finisher in 31:58 was 7th over-all. Her
closest challengers were Meg Hickey (34:38) and Margaret Lowance (36:32).
A total of 82 runners finished the race; the series will continue on Saturday, July 27 at 8 A.M. in
a 7-mile run at Roton Middle School in Rowayton.
