Weather:
100+ degrees, slight wind, very humid, but a dry course. Remarks: The race
director expected a 90+ runner turnout based on a quarter century of record
attendance for races on very hot days, dispite his having cancelled recently
when the prediction of 103 degrees made it seem unsafe ( it was 104 at our
house that day). Have runners recently
become much more cautious?
Or is
the availablity of races nearby, nearly every day of the week, a factor in
their choice? It used to be a given that a torrid day would guarantee big
numbers.
