Lipka captures
second Main Street Mile
Ron Lipka from Northborough
once again took top honors among 101 runners in this year’s Marlborough Main Street
Mile in a time of 4:34, in a race that featured over 60 runners from
Marlborough, including a team of 10 from the Advanced Math and Sciences Academy
and many students from the Marlborough High Cross Country team. Joe Grimaldo, from
Marlborough, who finished second overall, was the
medalist in the Open (18-39) category with a time of 4:35. Alex Grimaldo, from
Marlborough, who finished 26th overall was
the top female at 5:39. Vanessa Ferrari,
from Shrewsbury, won the women’s open in a time of 6:15. The father-son team of Peter (5:24) and Richard
Berdos (5:17) from Bellingham won the medal for the
fastest parent-child team.
John Kirk, from Ashland,
who finished eighth in a time of 4:46 was the over 40 medalist while Carol
Pearl, from Marlborough took the women’s over 40 crown for the second year in a
row in a time of 6:21. Complete race

The Striders are now getting ready for the Hudson -
Marlborough School Spirit 2011 – a 5 kilometer run and walk for community pride
celebrating the longstanding athletic rivalry between Marlborough and
Hudson. The race will be held on
Saturday, November 26th , at the Elks Lodge
in Hudson, just two days after the 108th meeting of the Hudson &
Marlborough football teams. For more
