Wins Marlborough Main Street Mile

Lipka from Northborough took top honors among 79 runners in this year’s
Marlborough Main Street Mile in a time of 4:44, in a race that featured 35
locals from Marlborough and a team of 23 from St Michael’s School in
Hudson. Matthew Zinck, from Marlborough,
who finished second overall, was the medalist in the under 18 category with a
time of 4:52. Alex Grimaldo, from
Marlborough, who finished 12th overall was the top female at 5:31. Lindsay Chlebus, from Hudson, won the women’s
open in a time of 7:15. The father-son
team of Dave and Tim Chevrette won the medal for the fastest parent-child team,
with both running in a time of 5:54.
Neil
Rice, from Northborough, who finished eighth in a time of 5:06 was the over 40
medalist while Carol Pearl, from Marlborough took the women’s over 40 crown in
a time of 6:58.
Other
notables included Ryan Morgello, a senior at Marlborough High School running in
his fifth Main Street Mile race who was 11th in a time of 5:26. Marlborough Athletic director Jeff Rudzinsky,
joined by several members of the boys and girls Cross Country team participating
in the race, finished at 7:50.
After
the race, the runners dispersed to try out the fabulous clam chowder offerings
while members of the Highland City Striders presented a check for $750 to the
Marlborough Food Pantry as a result of a successful Running with the Wolves 10K
race sponsored by the club last July.

The Striders are now getting ready for the Hudson -
Marlborough School Spirit 2010 – a 5 kilometer run and walk for community pride
celebrating the longstanding athletic rivalry between Marlborough and
Hudson. The race will be held on
Saturday, November 27th , at the Elks Lodge in Hudson, just three
days after the 107th meeting of the Hudson & Marlborough
