2ND ANNUAL CHRIS SHEEHAN MEMORIAL 10K RUN

February 14, 2010, Rocky Hill, CT

A Hartford Track Club Winter Series run, www.hartfordtrackclub.org.

The Chris Sheehan memorial run kept to the spirit of the one in whom it was honoring and the family members would like to extend their gratitude to the runners who participated in the race. Chris’s grandchildren Matt and Ben ages 6 and 4 we able to see first hand the importance of physical discipline, the benefits of exercise and love of competition for all ages, which was all done in a spirit of camaraderie. All these things Chris not only believed in but would have lovingly passed on to his grandsons if he were here to do so. So thank you again for your attendance and support. The race took a turn of events… well several turns to be exact. The first turn being the starting line, which was turned around. Instead of running out of ferry’s landing heading toward Riverview road, it was turned to face out of ferry’s landings heading through the meadows. This was decided for several reasons the path through the meadows was clear, it would mean less concern of road traffic, it was a more scenic route which was one of Chris’s places he often enjoyed and the biggest factor being the “king” (KingAchibaldVll) who was running the race always likes to switch things up last minute. The second turn of events took place when half the people running (the lead pack) turned one way and the other half (the ones following) turned the other way. Confusing to say the least but once again this was due mainly to the “kings” influence of giving out conflicting directions. Things did “turn” out fine and everyone finished and was extremely kind about the mix up. Again showing the little eyes that were watching the true meaning of enjoying a running event and teaching them what running is really all about. The names listed below are participates and their running times and places in the race. Thank you again for your support shown in this race.
