Another big climb - another victory for CMS Polar Bear Jim Johnson of Salem, New Hampshire. Johnson has
now won 3 of the 4 2009 New Hampshire snowshoe races - and hasn't been challenged in any of them. Today
Johnson ran away from the field at the 2nd Annual Cobble Mountain Snowshoe Classic - a (just shy of) 6K
snowshoe race at Gunstock Ski Area in Gilford, NH. John finished more than 2 minutes ahead of Tim Cox
of the host acidotic RACING team, with New York's Matthew Westerlund coming in 3rd.
acidotic's Leslie Dillon stomped on the women's field with a 6 minute victory over teammate Liz Hall,
with master Laurel Valley coming in 3rd. Patrick Smith of Dungeon Rock Racing and Valley were the top
masters (45-64) and acidotic's Gary Reuter took the SuperMasters title.
Host acidotic RACING wasn't very hospitable as they again dominated the team competition with a 361.75
to 231.7 win over Dungeon Rock Racing. Team TNT (Thursday Night Thunder) took 3rd.
Once again, Chris Dunn and team put on a first class event with a fun and challenging course, goodie
bag filled with useful stuff - including winter running gloves, hot soup at the finish, and an awards
ceremony with lots of prizes - including lots of Red Hook Beer, plus a pair of Kathoola Snowshoes.
Next weekend is a Granite State Snowshoe Series double with the Sidehiller 4 Miler in Sandwich on
Saturday and Fristy's Dash 5K in Atkinson on Sunday - followed by the Horse Hill 7k in Merrimack on
February 14 and the Kingman Farm Moonlight Madness 5K in Madbury on February 21. Note that the Moon-
light Madness 5k is already SOLD OUT!
