Marlboro’s Tough Ten
Mile Turkey Trot Has Great Turnout
On a beautiful, sunny
morning with temperatures uncharacteristically hovering around 50 degrees at
race time, 108 runners took part in the 5th Annual Tough Ten Mile Turkey Trot.
This race was sponsored by the Highland City Striders, and the Marlboro
Recreation Department. There was no entry fee to run this race or ugly race
tee-shirt filled with sponsors’ logos. Rather, each runner donated ten can
goods for the Marlboro Food Pantry as an application fee.
Carl Hartford from Medford led from the
start and never relinquished the lead running a time of 59.58. John Pajer
from Leicester (1.01.00) out-kicked Dino DiBiaso (1.02.08)
from Ashland
taking him on the long hill and never looking back. Sumner Fletcher from
Uxbridge who holds the female course record led the whole way and ran a respectable
time of 1.05.33, missing her record by a little more than a minute. Dara Delmata (1.08.01) from
Hopkinton placed second in the female division.
The first local, male
finisher was Ken Hutton (1.06.26) from Marlborough
placing in 13th place, and the first female finisher from Marlborough was Meghan Condry in a time 1.34.59 (93rd overall).
