USATF NE Mountain series

The fourteenth year of the USATF NE mountain series kicked-off at Wachusett Mountain on May 23. A near record field of 335 turned out for the new version of the course. With construction on the Mountain the race had to be altered, and for the first time in its storied history the runners did not finish on the summit. The new course was challenging, with nearly the same amount of climb as past version, however the biggest challenge was the 900’ of descent (some of which was on single-track). Over 100 USATF NE members finished the race. The series scoring is based on a percentage of the winner’s time (women scored separately from men) and the best five of six races is counted. Additionally all USATF NE members who complete the entire series will be granted a lottery by-pass for next years Mt Washington road race.
The series will continue next week with a 10 mile race from Wilton NH to the summit of Pack Monadnock.
