Things
we learn along the way
It's
week number nine of the 2009 version of the springtime Good Times Series
and what have I learned?
- A weekly
running series setup similar to a bowling league will never work - NOT!
- The downtown
population of Lowell increases substantially on Tuesday evenings.
- Give runners
a goal and they will not only reach it, they will exceed it.
- Hookslide
Kelly's is a very good race venue.
- Do not
park in the Boott Mills lot. They will tow you and slap you with a big
fine.
- Runner's
at the back of the pack work just as hard as those at the front.
- On warm
days bring more water.
- I have
the best volunteer crew on earth.
- I have
a lot more to learn.
Summer
Series Begins June 23
I can't wait for the Summer Series to begin. The themes
are a bit crazier and the weather is so much nicer. We will have a few
of our returning favorites - Temptation 5K, Classic T-shirt Nite, the
infamous Bikini Run and my least favorite Kill Dave 5K. We will also be
introducing a new one called the Coaster Run. All I'll say at this point
is that you don't want to miss this one! We'll be running eight races
on the following dates -- June 23, 30; July 7, 14, 21 (July 28 is off);
Aug 3, 10, and 17.
The
Leaderboard
It's show up time for Tim Burke and Erica Paton. If they show
up next week, they most likely will win the series' championship.

Next Up: Affirmation Run 5K
Next week concludes the 2009 Springtime Good Times series. We'll be awarding
our division series plaques and the much coveted Golden Mylies. Also anyone
who sets a Springtime Series PR in addition to an alltime PR wins a special
treat. We will also be having our season ending raffle as we say good-bye
to springtime and hello to summertime. So I really hope you can join us
and as always, we can't guarantee you will run a fast time, but we
promise you will have a good time at the Good Times Series.
