Tossing
Coasters to the Wind
After
starting last night's Good Times 5K I turned around to watch everyone
run towards the Tsongas Arena. I was amazed at the size of the group.
As it turned out, we had 269 finishers making last night our biggest Good
Times Series race ever!

We've
come a long way since April 8, 2003 when we ran our first event. We attracted
56 runners that first night and three of them, Mark Blaisdell, Kassie
Rubico and Dave LaBrode all ran last night. However the record does show
that their times were a bit faster in 2003.
Last night
was our first annual Coaster Toss 5K. Every participant was given a bar
coaster with their bib number written on it. At the one mile mark we had
three bins all labeled with a different prize. the objective was to get
your coaster into one of the bins. This, as it turned out, was much more
difficult then we imagined. The wind along with trying to hit a target
while moving made the task all that more difficult. However with that
said, the big winner of the night was Lowell's Adrienne Lefebvre who landed
her coaster in the money bucket. She will be awarded $100 for her skill.
The
Leaderboard
After four weeks Lowell's Titus Mutinda still remains a top the male leaderboard.
On the female side Dracut's Linda Young has taken over the top spot. Our
overall race winners last night were Jill Trotter (19:24) of Westford
and Titus Mutinda (16:58) of Lowell.

Next Up
Next week, July 21, is our Dynamic Duo 5K. This is a two person team competition.
Teams will be age and gender graded. You do not have to be on a team to
participate. And as always, we can't promise you'll run a fast time,
but we guarantee you'll have a Good Time at the Good Times Series.
