Wrong Way At The 5K

by Kate Naples

Street N' Beach 5K Holiday Fun Run 27 December 2009

Despite driving rain and worse, a hammering wind, a collection of 7 runners toed the line at Sandy Neck Beach the Sunday after Christmas. Race director Kate Naples shouted the directions, "Pretty simple out and back adding in a half mile sand part at the end." Four out of seven took the wrong sand trail, one turned around. The others finished by adding about 12 to 15 minutes to their expected time. They figured it was a nice scenice view on the beach trail. Everyone ate their fill of homemade date bread and chocolate chip cookies, and enjoyed water and juice while sharing their story of mishap.
