There's
a lot to like about Lowell
After
last night's Bikini Run 5K I could gleefully say that there's a lot MORE
to like about Lowell - well at least there was last night.

It was a
fun time as our Good Timers put on their best beach apparel for our annual
Bikini 5K. Everyone seemed to be in the spirit of the event.
Perhaps the
best moment of the night was the look on the police officer's face as
he passed by Lowell High prior to the start. It was priceless. Let's face
it, how often do you get 275 bikini and bathing suit clad folks in downtown
Lowell? This brings up the most compelling question posed to me last night,
"is it legal to run in a thong?" I guess we'll have to wait
until next year when I add a thong division. (Note to self, make sure
to specify that this is a female division only.)
A few significant
records were set last evening. First, it was our biggest Good Times Series
race of all-time. We had a record number of race photographers - I counted
at least four . And finally the sun came out for the first time for a
Good Times race this year. Race photographer extraordinaire Jim Rhoades
was in attendance so you can catch a view of the various photos from the
night at his site - click here.
On
the Competitive Side
The week off didn't affect our overall standings as Titus Mutinda and
Linda Young still sit a top the Good Times leader board. Last night's
winners were GT leader Titus Mutinda and UConn XC standout Megan Bowden.
We have just two weeks remaining before our Last Call 5K when we award
our Mylie plaques to our overall and division winners.

Next Up
Next week (Aug 11) it's our last annual Kill Dave 5K. Anyone who finishes
in front of me, after age and gender grading, wins a prize. So please
save me the embarrassment and stay home.
My recurring
nightmare is that everyone who has run the series this year decides to
show up next week and I have to take out a second mortgage to pay for
the prizes. So please skip next week. I don't mind -- really:-) BTW for
you masochist the killing begins at 7:00 PM. And as always, we can't
promise you'll run a fast time, but we guarantee you'll have a Good Time
at the Good Times Series.
