Records Set at MarlboroughMain Street Mile

The expected sunny weather never made it to the start of the Marlborough Main Street Mile, but 73 competitors did, and fast times were reached by many. With cloudy skies and temperatures slightly over 50 degrees, Adam Parslow from West Boylston and Christopher Simpson from Arlington sprinted the entire downhill course and Parslow won with an amazing 4.21, just one second ahead of Simpson. The winning time tied a course record held by Rich Dorian, which was set in 2005.

On the women’s side, youngster, and Marlboro High standout Ally Oram smashed the course record running an amazing time of 4.55. The previous course record was held by Rebecca Connolly from Wilmington who placed second overall in a time of 5.09. Connolly’s old course record was 5.12.

Marlboro High’s cross country captain Mike Bryant (3rd overall) was the first male finisher from Marlboro in a time of 4.31. Ms. Oram was also the first female finisher from Marlboro.

The first parent-child team was John (5th) and Peter Kirk (15th) from Ashland in a combined time of 10.23 setting a new event record. The first parent-child team from Marlboro was David (10th) and Gwen Hogan (11th) in a combined time of 10.59.

The race was sponsored by the Marlboro Heritage Fair, Marlboro Recreation Department, Marlboro Police Department, Marlboro Wellness Committee and the Highland City Striders
