81 Hale & Hearty runners made an appearance on the Charles River for race
#1 in 3C Race Productions' 3rd season of the Luv2Run Race Series. Despite
the cool and windy day, all enjoyed a beautiful course that traverses both
sides of the Charles --- with nary a hill in sight unless you count the
up and over the 2 bridges crossing the Charles.
Brian Hughes led from start to finish to take the title in 18:31. Aaron
Groen kept pace after falling behind early and finished just 15 seconds in
arrears, with Dave Menard in 3rd.
Kim Frechette took home her first title with a time of 24:20, good
enough for a minute plus victory over race regular Lindsey M'Sadoques.
Nicole Colson took 3rd, right on Lindsey's heels.
All runners were treated to a healthy post race spread of cinnamon buns,
blueberry muffins, chocolate chip cookies, and sourdough pretzels. 25
Luv2Run Pint Glasses were awarded to the overall and division winners
(actually 21 Pint Glasses and 4 soda mugs --- even if they did look
suspiciously alike.) The large raffle featured 2 pairs of Loco Sports
running shoes, 4 50% off gift certificates from Loco Sports, a $75 gift
certificate from the Boston Running Center, 6 Road ID Kits, 2 Fuel Belts,
and a book written by a 3CRP's regulars: Fun On Foot in America's Cities.
Next up on the 3C Race Productions schedule is the Luv2Run Portland 5K #1
next Saturday April 5, the Nashua PAL Mine Falls River Run 3K & 5K on
April 19, and the Muddy Moose Trail Races in Wolfeboro, NH on April 20.
We then take a break from Race Production to time 25+ other races before
returning to action at the Luv2Run Portland 5K #2 in June.
