Hosted by the
Somerville Striders Athletic Club

Small crowd tonight with many likely still recovering from yesterdays Canal Diggers 5k which as the Worcester Telegram wrote, was a "huge success."  Check out the video from the race shown above. Not very often, if ever, that you will not see mad traffic in kelley Square! Kick ass race and an after party that was just as good as the race itself. This first year event is sure to be even bigger next year.  Loads of local and State Pols came down to run and hang out and Lt Governor Tim Murray led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" to Paulie.  Political views  not withstanding ;>)  Tim is a genuinely good guy who actually gives a crap about the city and backs it up with action.  If we had more people holding office like Tim, our State would certainly be the better for it.

Congrats to Tracy Fylnn, who while snubbing the City of Worcester and the Canal Diggers 5k, ran  a personal best in the Louis and Clark 1/2 Marathon out in St Charles Missouri.  Tracy ran 1:54:05 and even after her luggage was lost on the flight home still managed to bake a birthday cake tonight for Paulie which was fantastic,  if you like really good chocolate cake that is, and lets be honest, what kind of weirdo doesn't.  Anyway thanks Tracy and nice job.

Coming up this Saturday, for those of you who are not participating in the Big Man Run in the 'ville, it is the St Mary's Fall 5K road Race at 1:00 pm  in Shrewsbury.  Put together by Jenny and Seamus Shanley this another small town New Englandy type race perfect for a fall afternoon.  These are good people doing a good thing, go out and show your support if you can. For more info email   shanley1723@verizon.net.
