Nice group keeping the Monday nights in Kelley Sq lively as we slide right into fall. First across the line tonight was "Mr. McCarthy" as he is known in the halls of Mountview Middle School in Holden. Brian is the assistant principal there and just a really good guy. Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Clark, who by the way is a phys Ed teacher at Mountview, have been coming out all summer and their support is much appreciated. I will be making every effort to stay on Brian and Brads good side as one of my boys will be attending Mountview in the fall. You never know when the kid'll go to school all jacked up on Mountain Dew and put a frog in some girls hair. Do kids still do that?

Anyway, even as the days get shorter and the air colder we will still be running. Rain, snow, wind, Tsunami, whatever, we are there every Monday.

If Monday night is just no good for you but you want to experience the thrill of running through Kelley Sq, and let's face it, who doesn't? This may be just what you are looking for, it's the "Fallon Community Health Plan Canal Diggers 5k". Promising to be the biggest road race the downtown area has seen in many years the Canal Diggers 5k takes place at 11:00 am this Sunday.

And if that is not enough to keep road racing Worcesterites happy there is more.......

Deep-fried Turkey on Thanksgiving??? Oh yes, that's right. This very turkey day will be the first annual "Worcester's Redneck Deepfried Turkey 5km or Abouts". Deep-fried Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Rutland Carrots, Mimosa's, Harpoon Beer....etc. This is going to be a good time. The field is limited to 100 runners so do not wait, sign up now as this will sellout. Somewhere Myles Standish, and Squanto are gazing at each other with a look of confusion.
