We may have the best smelling finish line in
all of road racing....something that will give Tom Derderian, guru of Greater
Boston Track Club more writing fodder about the increased decline of
the Universe ....but it goes with out saying that the finish line for our
little ole 5Km has got to be the best smelling one in all of the Free
World including the loop around Deer Island in Winthrop,
Massachusetts, I dare say.....we have competing smells from Little
Vinny's which is across the street, from the Brazillian Grille which is down
the street and then from what ever may be on the grille inside the Olde
Magoun's Saloon and wafting outside thru the kitchen vents!!!
Deirdre Calvert has been heard saying that when she gets
to Trum Field on Broadway and is a mere 1/4 mile away from the
finish line that she boots it into high gear after getting a whiff of Little
Vinny's meatballs - yes the smells travel that far
folks!!!
Our 2nd night down at the Olde
Magoun's Saloon was another success..right now we are competing with the Red
Sox and their crowd is winning as the Olde Magoun's Saloon was packed with
runners and Sox fan's tonight...more fans than runners but we held our own
when it came to the beer drinking competition:>)
More Red Sox next
week as the team is going to the 2007 World Series..yup I am writing this
story a wee bit late as well as posting the results a wee bit late (no
early prediction being posted) so see you next Thursday and every
Thursday rain or shine...it's a race/run, it's a night out and all are
welcome!!!
