Great Time at Marlboro High’s Frozen Toe
Unusually warm weather greeted 38 runners at the 26th Annual Marlboro High School (MHS) Alumni Race aka “Frozen Toe” at Marlborough High this morning. The 2.6 challenging cross country course was prepared beautifully by alumnus Dom Naples, and this perfect November morning made conditions ideal for all of the harriers. Sonny Gamble (Class of 2006) quickly took his lead from the pack and never really was challenged enroute to a time of 15.00. Dessie Stefanova, captain of this year’s MHS girls cross country team was the first female in the time of 18.53
The Team of Alumni continued their winning ways, winning the team competition with a low score of 30 points, they were followed by the local running club, The Highland City Striders with a score of 44 and the MHS Cross Country runners finished with 52 points. A little controversy stirred prior to the race, as a regular Highland City Strider chose to represent the Alumni for this prestigious competition. Further details concerning this traitorous act to follow…?
Special thanks are offered to Rich Riley, MHS Athletic
Director for both his guidance and support and Ted Hutch for his post race
