Ninth Annual G.E.N. 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk

The 9th Annual G.E.N. 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk was held Sunday April 29, 2007. The event is sponsored by the G.E.N. Fund and the Seekonk Lions Club.

Proceeds from this event will benefit four $2000 scholarships: one each in memory of Greg Deverell, Eric Azevedo, and Nick Velardo, and one for the Seekonk Lions. This scholarship fund is perpetual and receives its funding through the road race, walkathon and softball game. This is the largest, single fundraiser that benefits scholarships at Seekonk High School. The funds are invested and managed by the Seekonk Lions Charitable Trust, a 501(c)3 Corporation.

There were 116 Runners and 135 Walkers in the event which originated at Seekonk High School (Seekonk Mass).

Following the race, a celebrity softball game was held with Seekonk Police/Fire versus the Seekonk Lions.

Also, a Junior Run was held for children aged 2-11 years old. Everyone won a medal!
