Collinsville Bake-Off 11.2 Miler
March 25, 2007

An intimate but high quality field assembled for the 4th annual Collinsville Bake-Off, held in
typical late-Winter weather -- overcast and 42 degrees.  While 36 runners enjoyed the scenic 
beauty of the Farmington River, Nepaug Forest and the village of Collinsville, it may not have 
been enough to take their minds off the challenging hills.

The overall winner was local Canton runner and defending champion Mark Green, this year 
smashing Jon Fearnley’s course record by 52 seconds, blistering the 11.2 mile course in 
1:06:35.  The deep quality of this year’s field was evidenced by the top 4 runners all running 
faster than Green’s time of last year.  This trend was also found in the women’s division as 6 
runners ran faster than last year’s winning time led by Kathy Lundin in 1:27:34.  Tom Giorgetti 
led the one-loopers (5.6 miles) in 44:23, while Jodie Daley toured one loop this year to lead 
the women in 51:16.

Many thanks go to the always-professional volunteer work of David Reik, President Peter Hawley, 
Michael & William Thramann, and Cindy Kozak-Buckley.  The HTC also gives great thanks to Gail 
Case, who graciously welcomed us to her Collinsville Baking Company for the start/finish of the 
race and supplied the post-race goodies.  If you’re looking for some perfect anti-Atkins, 
carbo-heaven specialities and "out-of-this-world" carbo-loading breads, Gail’s place along the 
river in Collinsville is a runner’s mecca.
