The Start

Last year's champion had all he could handle. Michael Brouillette (05' 1:13:05) was in the lead up to the eight mile mark. Robert Irwin, from Guilderland, NY, took control at 8 and the two runners went head-to-head in a tough Oleksak Lumber Half-Marathon battle in Westfield, Massachusetts. It was the 33-year old Irwin who crossed the line in 1:11:07 as the 27-year old youngster, Brouillette, hung on for a 1:11:37. Outstanding times on a hilly course during the wind chills of March.
