Last Run of 2006

Sandwich, MA, December 31, 2006

A Beautiful End to 2006

What a beautiful day. The sky was clear; the sun shone bright. However, the wind blew like a whip. The out run in the first mile was pleasant. Even the return to the beach was nice, allowing clothes to be shed. Once on the beach front, clothes came back on as wind struck head on. Back at the finish line the wind blew ... but kindly. After the last runner/walker finished, the group gathered at the cars. The Race Director's helper locked the keys in the car - refreshments, goodies, drinks, and awards sat in the locked vehicle. AAA was called. We waited. My husband arrived with the keys and the feast began ... although a few of the runners left empty handed.

Scott Woelfel led the charge of seven this week in 22:41 followed 30 seconds later by Gary Bennett. While slowing her time by a few seconds, Cheryl Kielty again took the overall womens title and advanced her placing to 3rd overall. The only other repeat racer, Dan Dodson, demonstrated model consistency with a time 2 seconds faster than last week.

Thanks to all and stay tuned for more adventures at Sandy Neck. - RD Kate
