29th Annual GMAA Trollheim 5K

May 7, 2005
Essex Center, VT

Weather: partly sunny with temperatures in the 50s
Race Directors: Al and Sally Duval
Summary: St. Michael's College students again closed out their spring semester by racing the Trollheim 5K, but this year they took the top two spots in the men's race and third in the women's race. Tom Lichtenberger won his first race ever in a time of 16:58, 5 seconds ahead of teammate Paul Wagner. Michael Early, the only master in the top 10, finished third in 17:21. Jen Miller won the women's race in 21:21 and was followed in by Karen Clark in 21:49 and Kim Fahner in 21:54. Most notable factoid for the day was Joe Connelly's 20th straight Trollheim finish (he has been racing this since he was a St. Michael's student!). The only age group records of the day were both notable and in the same age group. Ted McKnight broke the 20 year old 60s record by 12 seconds (20:27) and Sally Howe burst on the 60s scene by bettering the previous mark by 4:24!
