26th Annual GMAA Round Church Women's Run 5K
USATF certified #VT02007WN
August 20, 2005
Richmond, VT
Weather: drizzly overcast with temperatures in the 60's
Race Directors: Deb Tirrito and Michelle Everleth
Summary: On one of the cooler days of the summer, 128 women competed in the
annual 5K. The top three runners all finished under 20 minutes, with Aliza Lapierre
leading the charge in 19:17, followed in by Kelsy Barton in 19:34. Cindy New finished in
third at exactly 20:00. 33 years of age spanned the ages of the top three illustrating that one
can have a chance to win a race for over three decades. With two 69 year olds and five runners
in the 60s age group, it is easy to see one can run competitively for many more. Karen Fieberg
was the first walker in at 39:49. Only one age group record fell, but it was an old one - Mary
Crowley broke the 1980 0-13 record by over 30 seconds in 22:04 (the record was twice as old as
her age!)
