Patricia Lynn Corbin Memorial Run 5K

Lee, ME, May 2, 2004

[Overall Results | Awards List ]

Thanks

Thank you from the family of Patty Corbin.

Another touching and very successful walk / run in memory of Patty was held on
Sunday, May 2, 2004 at Lee Academy. It could only have been such due to the tremendous
support from the volunteers, sponsors, participants and organizers. Our family is so grateful
for so many people coming together to make this so meaningful. Our heartfelt thanks go out to
all who were a part of this year's event.

Volunteers: So many of you, we know we'd exclude someone if we tried to name all of you;
from the students who solicited sponsorships, put together race packets, banners and signs,
helped to prepare the course; adults and students who assisted on race day in so many ways.
The Lee Academy Pep Band's music prior to the start; Kimmy Thurlow, Jenny and Tyler Thompson
for a very touching memorial medley; Gail Rae for the water stop at "Dunloggin Bed and
Breakfast"; Thom Knowles' music along the course at Slipper Ridge; The Lee Volunteer Fire Dept.
for excellent traffic control and safety. All of you are the heart and soul of events like this,
performing so much work graciously, with little recognition.

Organizers: Lee Academy. Todd Thurlow who was not only key in organizing this event, but also
in obtaining grant money for work on improving the trails for future use, including a memorial
sign made by Dave Mandravelis placed on the course at the same site as a memorial cross made by
Patty's classmates almost two years ago. Patty Houghton who from the beginning handled the
pre-registration and sponsorship processes. Candy Gifford who, with a nucleus of dedicated
volunteers, dove in and took on the task of preparing for race day registrations, finish
results and awards. Jane Scanlon for her diligent and detailed graphics work (and much
more) on the registration form, award certificates and pin pictures. Nancy Burrill for
creation and updates to the web site, (www.pattysrace.com). Wendell and Bonnie Porter
for timing and management at the finish line.

Participants: A complete listing of race day participants and award winners will be
published in the Lincoln News and will be posted on the web site.

Sponsors: Monies received from participants and sponsors are what make this a successful
fund raising event for the Patricia Lynn Corbin Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits a
Lee Academy graduate going on to college each year. This is one of our ways of continuing
Patty's legacy of giving. This year we raised over $3,000.00 for her scholarship fund. T
