232 Racing Team One and Two at Coffee O

Ed Sweeney and Steve Ruane of Woods Hole set the pace at the Coffee O Five
this week. Instead of battling it out they finished in a tie for first and
conserved their energy for the next dayıs Annual Late Spring Rager. Jess
Baker was the first woman and third over-all. She loped home in a time of
31:39 which was not only a 30 second personal best, but was also the fastest
womenıs time posted this year.
Joe Cobb, who was one of the few Cape Cod runners who didnıt wilt in
the heat at last monthıs Boston Marathon, lopped a minute and a half off his
personal best time en route to a fourth place menıs finish. Marjorie
Wainwright was the second woman to cross the line and her time of 34 minutes
and change bested Lynne Clay of Bourne by three minutes. Running just his
second five miler ever, Dough Tholke knocked a minute off his debut five
mile time to set another personal best.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
are no entry fees for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers
are welcome to participate.
