USGS Runners Dominate at Coffee O Five
It was 38 degrees and snowing at the start of the Coffee O Five this
weekŠgo figure. Twenty-one runners and a few walkers took part. This week
it was the runners from the United States Geological Survey who stormed into
Town Hall Square and dominated the event. The eclectic group of map makers,
geologists, computer gurus, and other such scientists stormed across the
line one after another and claimed four of the top five spots.
Jeff List traded in his snowboard for his running shoes and trotted
home in a tie for first to lead the mighty USGS team. Brandon Dugan, Ed
Sweeney, and John Evans all followed in succession.
Sharon Grace made her 2004 Coffee O debut and trotted in second behind
Wendy Stafford. Laura Majka also finished her first Coffee O of the year
and took third. Mary Peterson and Linda Dalton ran together to tie for
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers are
invited to participate. The next big running event in town will be the 27th
Annual Seagull Six Road Race on April 4th in Woods Hole.
