Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, July 23, 2004
Hazy, Hot, and Very Humid for Coffee O Fivers
by FTC
Hazy, hot, and humid were the conditions at this weekıs Coffee O Five.
Sixty-four runners and a handful of walkers trudged through the oppressive
conditions. It was not a night to set any personal bests, and none were set.
Sometimes itıs just not a good idea to let a bunch of sweaty runners
know you have a swimming pool. The Pelletierıs made that mistake last week
and much to their dismay they found themselves hosting a post run pool party
this week.
Matt Clark made it four wins in a row. This week the Hyannis
speedster started slow and finished fast, clocking ten minutes flat for his
final two miles. D.J. Fairbanks led through three miles and hung on in the
end for a third place finish in just a shade over 30 minutes. Don
Fredrikson edged Mike Norton for fourth by half a minute
Nancy Correia seemed impervious to the elements as she raced home in
just over 33 minutes to win the womenıs race. Lynn Holmgren trotted home a
minute later running stride for stride with her younger brother. Wendy
Stafford nabbed third and Alex Borst of Phoenix, Arizona took fourth.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There
are no entry fees for these self-timed events and all runners and walkers
are welcome to participate.
