The house was full for this one, 40 strong on the course and
plenty of cheering support. Although the
moon must have been full somewhere, we had many late entries, missing swimmers,
bikers, runners, non-finishing entrants, mass-hysteria, cats sleeping with dogs.........now to the good stuff.
In the pond we had Amy "Aquagirl" Curry taking
over for the absent Ian Crowley, as she dominated the extended buoy course out
of the water. That buoy was so far out it was added to
the boating charts. The bike course went without accident on the slightly wet
surface.
Although Paul Hennessey couldn't
make the race, his spiritual words of bike safety caution hung on every wheel.
Who was that masked helmet/visor man on the bike? None other
that Vinny "Masked Advenger" Miserandio as he stole the yellow jersey
on this day with the top bike split. Congrats to Beth Pashal
(Tri-newbe 1st timer), blazing on a "cross-bike" and finishing the
full Tri in 12th place. Brilliant!
Brandi has some high-test prospects in that Salem
Tri-training group. John "Super-Human"
Martin ran away with the best run time and top spot in the race, although Vinny
gave him a good scare for a while there. Close to John's Achilles running heel
were the fleet-of-foot (and aerodynamic) duo of Paul Carruccio and Stephen Martin,
and also Shane "Kickmaster"
Sherwood. Looks like a good 4x400 relay
team there.
Mike Fitz took his leadership/socializing role in Paul's
absence a little too seriously as he was caught gabbing 100-ft from the finish
and was smoked by the lighter than ever Kelly Philbin (nice kick Kel). Last week Mike was caught hittin'
the pond late because he was too busy zipping up a few of the female athletes.
Mike my man, I want to party with you.
I'd like to thank the young Miss Martin
for handing out the watermelon to all the finishers. Congrats to all, sorry this is so late.
