Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, January 23, 2004
Another Frigid Friday Night Fiver
by FTC
It was a balmy 17 degrees this week for the Coffee O Five runners. A
full four degrees warmer than last week, and eight degrees warmer than the
week before. Fourteen runners and three walkers tip toed through the icy
roads and all but one made it through unscathed.
Dana Miskell posted the time to beat as he made a noontime jaunt
through the course in just under 34 minutes. Last week his time would have
won by over two minutes, this week it was a slightly faster field but the
Wood Lumber man still nabbed fourth in his first Coffee O Five of the year.
Kevin Gray tied for first, running just under 31 minutes in his first Coffee
O appearance of 2004. Mike Norton followed close on his heals. David
Stuebe and Stephen Roe romped home in just over 36 minutes to finish in a
tie for fifth.
Wendy Stafford is a perfect four for four for 2004. She raced home in
seventh place and was the first woman over-all. Carolyn Bird was the second
woman to cross the line. The three walkers must have been cold, as they
raced through the 2.4-mile course in a very quick time of 38 minutes.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five-mile run and 2.4 mile walk that is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for this self timed event and all runners and walkers are
welcome to participate. Reflective running gear is the only requirement
through the winter.
