Coffee-O-Five
Falmouth, MA, February 13, 2004
Friday the 13th is Good Luck to Coffee O Fivers
by FTC
Friday the thirteenth brought good luck to the Coffee O Five runners
this week. It was a balmy 39 degrees, the roads were dry and ice-free and
it was just a great night for a run. As Tommy Leonard would best sum it
up²the blue birds were singing and spring is just around the corner.² Ten
runners and one walker enjoyed the nice night. Some of the regulars were
home resting for the next dayıs Marthaıs Vineyard 20 Miler.
Wendy Stafford copped another womanıs win as she out-legged Mary
Peterson. Carolyn Bird took third with her best time of 2004. In the menıs
race it was a lame first place tie. Bob Richards of North Falmouth was more
manly about it and race hard to the finish. As seems to be his custom this
year he again finished fourth for the men. Mike Garry nabbed a top five
finish as he turned in his fastest time of the season. Steve Howard also
made his first Coffee O Five appearance of the year and raced home in just a
shade over 50 minutes. Joan Pelletier set a very brisk pace as she soloed
in the walk.
The Coffee O Five is a weekly five mile run and 2.4 mile walk which is
held every Friday night at 5:30 from Town Hall Square in Falmouth. There is
no entry fee for this self-timed event and all runners and walkers are
invited to participate. Steaming hot cocoa is supplied at the finish by
Coffee Obsession. Reflective vests are required through the winter.
